Cows produce more milk if they are given a choice of food, according to a study released today in Melbourne. “Presentation and choice of food affects how much we eat. It’s the same for cows,” says University of Melbourne researcher, Danni Marotti.

Fresh Science is a national competition helping early career researchers find, and then share, their stories of discovery.
The program takes up-and-coming researchers with no media experience and turns them into spokespeople for science, giving them a taste of life in the limelight, with a day of media training and a public event in their home state.
Events will run across the country in October and November in states where we secure the funding.
In 2021, events are confirmed for VIC, NSW and QLD. We are still working on the final sponsorships to lock in events for SA and WA.
Nominations are open to all researchers from across Australia.
If your nomination is successful and we have not secured funding for an event in your home state, you will be invited to attend one of the other state events if you can cover your costs (we can help by writing to your DVCR). For VIC, NSW and QLD, ten researchers will be selected to participate in their state event.
