Cocoa Casino has been around for over a decade, more precisely, since 2007. It was licensed in Curaçao, which isn’t the worst thing ever, but… let’s just be grateful it’s licensed. The casino is powered by Rival software platform.
After visiting Cocoa Casino, we were pretty impressed by the website’s UX… and then we tried to register. There was a major malfunction — we couldn’t finish the registration when it came to the last step. Basically, the submit button was nonexistent on a regular laptop screen. The screen cuts it off, and you just can’t scroll down. That is clearly unacceptable. If it weren’t for that, the overall impression would have been good. The navigation bar is pretty standard — it’s reasonably easy to get around, and you can quickly access all of the crucial categories. The design itself is pretty good. It features casino-related colours — black, red, and gold.
Since they’ve been around for quite a while, there was enough time to establish a reputation. And honestly, it’s anything but good. The casino is non-responsive and known for confiscating winnings. Moreover, there was a period when the casino operated without a gambling license. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, they have retroactively enforced predatory terms on their affiliates in the past.
T&C’s Analysis
After carefully going through Cocoa Casinos terms and conditions, we didn’t find anything out of the ordinary. Basically, nothing stands out as predatory towards the players. However, there are a couple of clauses that you should be aware of.
Bonus Abusers
Considering the wording they used in the following clause, it seems as though the casino was a victim of a promotional abuse from the countries mentioned below. Since the minimum wagering requirements are 30x, and they shouldn’t go over 50x, it is a bit unclear what separate wagering requirements include. So if you happen to play from one of these countries, keep in mind that you’ll have to meet higher wagering requirements.
Advantage Play
This term is pretty ok, but they should’ve been more specific and clearly say what those “any other methods” are.
Events
When it comes to being publicly mentioned as a winner, it’s one thing just to have your name written on the website, and it’s relatively common. But Cocoa Casino goes a bit too far with their demands. Mainly, the casino requires that such players are available for any event arranged by the casino. Then, they go on and say that the player’s privacy will be respected in the event, which is a bit unclear, and contradictory.
Dormancy and Irregular Play
The fact that the players have only 180 days before their balance is forfeited is a bit strict. At least a certain amount could be removed from the balance monthly, with the opportunity to reclaim everything once you’ve activated your account.
Something that is highly problematic is their interpretation of whether you’re playing “in the spirit of the game” or not. That stems from the casino’s paranoia and basically gives them the freedom to mark anything as an unacceptable playing pattern.
Their T&C’s section is severely lacking. For example, one huge thing that is left out is any mention of bonus terms, rules, or wagering requirements.
Games and Providers
Cocoa Casino is powered by Betsoft and Rival with a selection of more than 180 games. Both Betsoft and Rival are well-known names in the online gambling industry, mainly due to their extensive collection of quality video slots. Consequently, the highlight of Cocoa Casino is on slots.
That said, the choice of games is a bit underwhelming, but not the worst. One of their providers, Rival, offers some of the most fun ones. There are more than a hundred slot games. Among them, you’ll find the iconic Rival i-Slots, which is one of the unique things that Rival offers. What makes i-Slots different is that they include an objective that a player can work towards and include a storyline. In that sense, they have a fun twist on traditional slot gameplay.
As far as the variety of games goes, you can choose from slots, table games, and video poker. The best choice is in the Slots category, where you can find classic slots, video slots, and jackpot slots. However, table games selection is poor. They basically offer the most basic games, and there are literally ten of them. It’s safe to say that they didn’t put much thought into what table-game lovers would enjoy.
If your main game is video poker, you’ll likely be disappointed by the Cocoa Casino because they only offer seven different variants.
The first category in the navigation bar is “hot games” where you can choose from a dozen of player-favourites, including Almighty Dollar, Fruit Splash, 5-Reel Circus, etc. Apart from the typical casino-style games, you’ll also find a few specialty games in Cocoa Casino’s library. There, you can have fun with some classics such as Sudoku, Keno, Bingo, and others.
Available Platforms
As far playing options go, the good news is that they offer instant play, as well as a download option. And when it comes to quality, downloaded Cocoa Casino games have poor graphics, so we hope they’ll change that in the future.
Additionally, the casino is mobile compatible, but given the fact that we had problems with the registration and responsiveness on a laptop screen, you can imagine what would happen on mobile. Moreover, they don’t offer an app for their casino.
Financial Information
At Cocoa Casino, you have plenty of available deposit and withdrawal methods. It features some of the pretty standard ways of payment, including debit card and e-wallet options. Additionally, they offer Bitcoin, which is a great thing, especially because it’s not something that is mandatory.
Deposit
For the deposits, you can choose between Bitcoin, Visa, Skrill, Neteller, and Paysafecard. The processing times are instant for all of them. The minimum deposit is $25, but the maximum deposits vary. So it’s $7,500 for Visa, $2,500 for Skrill, $1,500 for Neteller, and $2,500 for Paysafecard. However, there is no maximum for Bitcoin.
Withdrawal Methods
Now, when it comes to withdrawing, you can choose from the following options:
- Bitcoin
- Visa
- Neteller
- Skrill
That is where we came across an issue. There is conflicting information regarding maximum withdrawals. First, in the terms and conditions section, the casino mentions a maximum of $2,000 a month. But if we go to the banking page, we come across a maximum of $99,999 a month for Bitcoin. So to say that it’s misleading would be an understatement.
When it comes to other withdrawal options, the minimum withdrawal is $25 for each of them, including Bitcoin. Maximum amount is $10,000 for Visa, $5,000 for Neteller, and $2,500 for Skrill. As far as the processing time for payments goes, they are all processed within 2–5 business days, Monday through Friday.
Bonuses
So this part was disappointing. First of all, the selection of bonuses is terrible — they have only two types. A no deposit bonus where you get $25 free, and you have a 100% bonus where you can double your money on your first deposit. That’s basically all the info they present you with. There are no additional info or details — your only option is the “play now” button which simply takes you to the Games section.
They also offer some kind of VIP bonuses with extra rewards. The problem is that, yet again, they don’t further explain how to become a VIP nor what extra rewards consist of. So a general lack of information. They don’t offer free spins or any other exciting bonuses.
Furthermore, the only option for getting any additional info is to contact their customer support. Again, this is an issue. In order to contact them through chat, you need to be registered, which is a problem in itself, as we’ve mentioned above. The second option is to send them an email, and by that point, you lose the will to live, let alone contact them.
Customer Support
As we’ve mentioned earlier, it was basically impossible to register at Cocoa Casino; therefore, we couldn’t test the live chat. But according to the forums, there seems to be no significant complaints or problems regarding live chat. However, they are yet to respond to our email, which, we believe, won’t happen ever.
In conclusion, you should be able to get the info and help you need from their customer service, but only if you managed to register without any problems beforehand.
Summary
Overall, considering that Cocoa Casino is kind of a veteran in the online gambling world, many things could use significant improvement. Some things are just unacceptable when you’re a casino with over ten years of business practice. But let’s start off by mentioning the positive aspects.
First of all, it is powered by Rival, which is a plus.
Secondly, the casino banking options are pretty decent, and it offers plenty of deposit and withdrawal methods. We absolutely have to mention the fact that one of the payment options is Bitcoin, which is a big plus, considering it’s not exactly mandatory.
Additionally, the website’s design is overall good, easy to navigate, and mobile compatible.
When it comes to the negative side, there are a lot of issues that must be mentioned. The first problem we came across was with the actual registration; more precisely, the screen responsiveness on the last step of the registration page. So not being able to create an account due to bad UX is really something that leaves you with an awful first impression.
That issue further leads to problems with anything that requires you to log in. Other things that Cocoa Casino lacks are a poor selection of games, as well as bonuses. Basically, the casino’s offering is pretty low. And then there is contradicting information regarding maximum withdrawal amounts since the info we come across in the T&C’s section claims the maximum is $2,000 a month. But if we go to the banking page, we’ll see that the maximum is $99,999 a month for Bitcoin.
